AOWC Urges Support for Rep. Graves' NEPA Modernization Legislation

The American Offshore Wind Coalition (AOWC), the nation’s only group focused solely on creating more jobs and opportunities for American workers and companies in the U.S. offshore wind industry, applauds Representative Graves on his introduction of the BUILDER (Building U.S. Infrastructure through Limited Delays & Efficient Reviews) Act to modernize the National Environmental Policy Act.

After four decades under a burdensome review process that has hindered economic development through lack of clarity and certainty, we now have legislation which will seek to address the many hurdles the wind industry has had to overcome, AOWC Executive Director Chris Quinn said.

“As a nascent sector, with limitless potential and hundreds of billions of dollars of revenue at stake, we need a process which will accelerate the development of our projects and empower a once-in-a-generation opportunity for American workers, manufacturers, technology providers, steel producers, ports, shipbuilders and maritime service providers,” Quinn said.

“All we have ever asked for is transparency, clarity, and certainty as we look to build out this important energy source and develop America’s biggest emerging market,” Quinn said. “We applaud Congressman Graves for putting forth this important piece of legislation and look forward to working with him and his team.”
