President's Order Will Boost American Recovery, U.S. Offshore Wind Jobs & Investment

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The American Offshore Wind Coalition (AOWC), the nation’s only group focused solely on creating more jobs and opportunities for American workers and companies in the U.S. offshore wind industry, today applauded President Trump’s Executive Order speeding up infrastructure permitting to spur economic recovery.

The executive order, entitled “Accelerating the Nation’s Economic Recovery from the COVID-19 Emergency by Expediting Infrastructure Investments and Other Activities,” will not only support America’s rebuilding, but help fashion a streamlined permitting process for offshore wind projects that put Americans first, AOWC Executive Director Chris Quinn said.

“We want get American steel and American concrete into the water as quickly as possible, and President Trump’s executive order is one of the fastest routes to unlocking the hundreds of billions of dollars in potential opportunities the U.S. offshore wind industry can offer American workers and companies,” Quinn said.

“Building our offshore wind assets and creating the supply chain to maintain and operate them is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for America, as long as we look at our offshore wind expansion as a way to onshore jobs and investment,” he said. “We applaud the President’s important recognition that infrastructure and energy have been essential to every modern American economic recovery effort, and his determination to make them part of this recovery.”
